Our Impact

We solve the problem of getting health care to communities in Africa by supporting programmes that provide reliable and cost effective transport for health workers.

We are proud to say that the work we do has a huge impact. The transport for healthcare programmes we support are significantly reducing disease growth, curbing outbreaks of disease, reducing maternal and infant mortality.

What your money can do

Every penny you raise helps to deliver healthcare to hard-to-reach communities in Africa, making sure health workers have reliable vehicles to get them to get them to the people who need them wherever they are.

Courier bag

Safely carries blood and other samples to enable rapid diagnosis and vaccines to prevent the spread of dangerous diseases.

Protective clothing

£/$300

One set of protective clothing including jacket, helmet, boots, gloves and hi-vis vest to keep a health worker safe on their motorbike.

Maintenance toolkit

Providing all the tools needed to maintain a health worker’s motorcycle for its lifetime.

Rider training

Full rider training, maintenance of the vehicle and training to handle vaccines or samples.

A motorcycle for life

Agricultural motorcycle suited to terrain (200cc 4 stroke plus) with running costs for its lifetime.

All-terrain ambulance

Specialist vehicle for transporting pregnant women to hospital over rough terrain.

Two Wheels for life supports this programme and others like it that ensure health workers have fuelled, well maintained motorcycles and other vehicles that can get to the remote areas and get healthcare to those who need it most.

Therese Drammeh, country director for Riders for Health, The Gambia tells us how in Gambia women in labour were regularly taken to hospital by wheelbarrow or donkey cart and how her programme is working to ensure this is a thing of the past.
